History
The 6025 was the final single dome tank car produced by Lionel in the
postwar era. It has become the hardest single dome tank cars to locate
within the short 8" tank car series. Interest, however, remains
minimal by both collectors and operators.
The 6025 was produced for three years. During this time, it was available in several different color and decal variations. Locating each variation will take some time and effort as some are hard to find.
Features
Standard features are minimal on the 6025. It includes: a single dome
tank body -- usually unpainted, metal frame, trucks with operating couplers
plus a Gulf decal.
For 1956 and the early part of 1957, the 6025 had bar-end trucks. For the later part of 1957 and into 1958, AAR trucks were the norm. In all cases, the 6025 always had two operating couplers.
