History
The 2037 steam engine is also known as a Prairie-type locomotive. This mid-size
steam engine is a dependable locomotive and it shares its boiler casting
with the 637, 2016, 2018, 2026, 2029 and 2036 steam engines. Although the boiler
castings are the same on these steamers, in most cases the internal components
are slightly different.
Because the 2037 had a long production run of eleven years, it is a common steam locomotive.
Features
Standard features of the 2037 include: black-painted, die-cast boiler with a 2-6-4 wheel
arrangement, detailed driving-wheel hardware, three-position E-unit, Magnetraction,
smoke, relatively-plain spoked drive wheels, sheet metal trailing truck plus an
ornamental bell and a working headlight. The number 2037 appears in white on the
cab of the steamer.
Lionel offered numerous non-whistling and whistling tenders with the 2037 steamer. Non-whistling tenders include 1130T, 6066T and 6026T; whistling tenders include 233W, 234W and 6026W.
